Inexpensive gadgets that can revolutionize your home
If you feel your home is a bit boring and you’d like to brighten it up a bit for yourself, and impress your visitors a little, there are plenty of things you can try. A new lick of paint might go down well, a bit of gardening here and there, perhaps a new front door or just a door knocker. Even a new house number sign will get noticed. Many people like to redecorate rooms to add a bit of life to the house. Changing the way things work is something that people usually don’t feel all that confident about, but there are a number of gadgets on the market that make all that straightforward.
It might be something as simple as your garage door. Have you been resisting getting an automatic door opener all this time? Or perhaps you have one but it’s noisy and slow. Why not fix all that right away and choose a new one from Garage Automatics? Garage door openers can be so novel, you might be opening it and closing it all day long as your neighbors come over to see what you’ve done.
Does your house use conventional lighting? Why not amaze everyone and save yourself some pennies by taking the whole system out and replacing it? First up, LED lighting last longer and uses less energy than standard lighting. By taking out your old lighting, you can fit LEDs into interesting spaces. For example, you may choose to have lights fitting into the top of your cabinets to cast light on the ceiling itself as part of your set up. You can install lighting panels into walls, doors, floor tiles – wherever your imagination can find! Add to this a voice operation box and motion sensors. These can stop you ever having to switch a light on or off. The lights will come on when someone enters a room and they will go off shortly after they leave. On top of that, if you want to dim the lights, use a different color, or program the lights to do certain things at certain times, you can program all this by simply talking to the lights. Talk about dragging your home into the now!
Another great idea, this time for your bathroom, is a tablet stand. We all know that bathrooms and electronic gadgets don’t always go well together, but we still like the idea of watching our favorite shows in the shower or the bath or playing games when we’re sitting on the toilet. With this stand, you can position your tablet in its perfect viewing position and not risk splashing it with water or dropping it into a tub full of hot, soapy water, potentially killing it.
If you like Star Wars, you might like the programmable trash can which looks a bit like R2D2. When you want to dispose of something, simply call it over, tell it whether its trash, recycling or organic and it will open the correct receptacle for you to place your trash in. It can then take it to where you usually dispose of such things. You might lose some of your ball skills from not practicing throwing the empty beer can across the room to hit the trash can anymore, but it’s worth it to have a little robot following you around and clearing up your mess after you.
Another great robotic addition to your home is a robotic bartender. It is basically a drinks cooler with a robot that can be programmed to make different cocktails on command. Simply stock it up, download instructions for making popular cocktails, add your own if you want, and then whenever you want a cocktail simply shout over to it “Hey Roxie (should you choose to call it that), another Long Island over here, easy on the ice this time”, and within seconds you’ll have a cocktail poured, stirred and waiting for you to drink. At this point it might be useful to see if R2D2 can be programmed to bring it over for you, too. There is almost certainly another robot for that, anyway.
So you see it’s that easy to jazz up your house without really making any drastic changes.
